More About the Author

Kim is a mom to two adult children in Tennessee and has built her career as Compliance Officer in the credit union industry. In 2010 Kim unexpectedly took on the role of caregiver to her late husband, Steve. Steve was a US Navy veteran who developed Multiple System Atrophy after chemical exposure. After six years of progressive deterioration, Multiple System Atrophy eventually left him unable to talk, walk, or care for himself independently. Full-time caregiving while working and taking care of two teenagers was a role she was ill-prepared for. However, through her faith, God provided a way to not only survive but see the glory in how He can use any situation, even difficult ones, for His purpose along the way.

As an author and speaker, Kim has a heart for caregivers and the disabled community. Her debut book "The Beautiful Destruction of My Life” is now available. She learned firsthand the challenges caregivers and loved ones face. She has used her experiences while managing parenting two teenagers, one with Autism, finding caregiving support, health care options and choices, and physical difficulties for persons who are wheelchair-bound and unable to communicate to share what caregivers are regularly faced with.

In addition to her credit union role she currently serves on the board of directors of Inheritance of Hope. A wonderful organization created to inspire hope in young families facing the loss of a parent due to a terminal illness. Kim has volunteered to assist families on several retreats after her own family was served during the last year of Steve’s life.
